EMLAC UPDATE

The committee has been working hard to get the 2020/2021 season ready. We have been lucky enough to secure a major sponsor with Rich River Golf Club committing to a 3 year sponsorship agreement. I would encourage members and families to support Rich River Golf Club and please let it be known to the staff that you are appreciative of the support they have offered.

With the restrictions around sporting regulations and protocols based on current Covid 19 advice the committee held a meeting last night to discuss 3 possible options available to the commencement of the season. This came with some complexities as the Victorian and NSW regulations are vastly different when it comes to group gatherings and the border crossing restrictions prevent Victorian families from attending our facilities.

We, the committee, see Echuca Moama as a singular community. Because of this, the committee have made the decision to not commence the 2020/21 season until we can do this as a whole community:

B) We stand strong as a whole community and not run a season until we can run as one and have our Victorian members participate. (Best case scenario for this opening up is Nov 23 as guided by the Victorian roadmap. However, if this happens it is not certain that the borders will open up at this time to allow Victorians into NSW to play sport. We still cannot run if NSW don’t open the border to this kind of activity)

Many options and variables were discussed during the meeting and the decision has been made based on the presumption that by mid to late November we will be able to run a season. How this season will look will again be guided by the protocols but we are doing everything in our power to make sure the season is as fun and enjoyable as previous seasons and we can get competitors back being active.

Over the next few months, we will be putting together some online programs / family challenges / training techniques etc. for our members and supporters to participate in.

Keep an eye on or social media pages as we begin the journey out of lockdown and get active.

Thank you again for your ongoing support and we look forward to seeing you all on track soon.

Regards

EMLAC Committee 2020/21
