U10 Boys run 3rd in State Relays

Our U10 boys headed to Casey Fields on December 14th to compete in the State Relay Championships. An exciting experience for the boys, great atmosphere and lots of adrenaline saw the boys run their 4x200m heat in first place. However they were running against the clock and overall ran third in a close finish to second. The controversy was that over the three heats, three teams ran the same time overall and officials had to go back to the photo finishes and look at the 100th of a millisecond to determine second and third place. Second place was awarded to Berwick running 2.11.12.16, to our boys in third running 2.11.12.18. It was an epic run by the boys and they earned their podium finish.

The afternoon arrived with the team then running the 4x100m finishing second in their heat. Some time passed while waiting to see if their time was quick enough to make the final. However due to the rules governed by LAVic when there are four heats, the boys narrowly missed out in being in the top eight for the final and finished up 9th overall.

The rules are: If there is three heats the 8 fastest times qualify for the final. If there are 4 heats the winner of each heat will progress and then the next 4 fastest times progress.

The U10 boys team consisted of Marlon Micalizzi, Cody Ryene, Lynkholn Richardson and Nate Smith.

The boys did incredibly well at a state level and most of all thoroughly

enjoyed the experience.
