2021/22 Season Information

Updated: Aug 29, 2021

Welcome to the 2021/22 season. Our committee has been working hard behind the scenes to get the season up and running. As you are all aware of the pandemic, all information provided is subject to the restrictions in place at the time of commencement.

We have completed our season calendar, you can download it HERE.

SEASON DATES

We will be offering a Parent Information day for parents and guardian to attend on Sunday September 19, where you will learn about what our season will look like this year along with an opportunity to meet our committee and ask questions. We will also be showing you how to officiate events to help you confidently officiate on meet days. We will then open up on Saturday October 2 for our Come and Try day for new members and competition begins on Friday October 8 2021. So save the dates!

Our affiliation process is not yet completed, which means our registrations are currently not yet open. Once our affiliation is through our registration porta will be announced via our socials and website so stay tuned.

There are a few changes this season that you will find and we hope welcome them as we strive for a welcoming, family, fun community to be part of. We are an all inclusive center at EMLAC and we are so pleased to announce that this season we have introduced Multiclass for athletes who would like to participate.

MULTICLASS

What is Multiclass?

Multiclass is the format used to create meaningful competition, for athletes with a disability, from multiple classification impairment categories. Multiclass events are held in Track and Field, with some minor modifications to the rules and regulations, where necessary.

We have a Multiclass Coordinator and liaison who is there to help you with all your needs.

If you have any questions prior to registration, please contact us and we will be more than happy to help in any way we can.

We It is with great pleasure that we can announce our starting dates finally. Obviously all due to the pandemic and the situation at the time. However we will be starting our season (if we can) on October 2nd with our Come & Try day for new members and our first EMLAC meet on Friday October 8th.

COME & TRY DAY

Come and Try day is a great day for new athletes to come and give little athletics a go and see if it is a good fit for you. You will get to participate in events and understand how our meet days work. It is also a great opportunity for parents to get involved and ask our committee any questions they may have.

To participate on the day, you must register via the LAVic website: www.lavic.com.au as either a Trial Athlete or a New Member prior to the day.

What's the difference? As a Trial Athlete you are entitled to participate in 2 centre competitions before committing to registering as a financial member. LAVic understands that athletics many not be for everyone and are giving you an opportunity to simply 'give it a go'. You must use your 2 free passes within 28 days of the registration date. After this date, or after you have used your 2 weeks trial, you must be a financial member to participate.

As a New Member you simply become a financial member and there is no trial period. If you are sure you would like to participate you have the option to pay your registration for the season.

FIRST SEASON MEET

We have moved our meets days this season to a Friday night. We understand these decisions may not suit everyone, however we are on a mission this season to create a culture of a family and fun orientated centre. We want our members to enjoy their Friday nights (and their weekends) and be a fun social hub for both athletes and parents. There will be a BBQ each week, starting early for the little ones, and cool refreshments available.

LAVIC COMPETITIONS

LAVic have bought out their calendar for the season. You will see it is jam packed so mark the dates in your diary. First up is the Regional Relays which are back to early in the season.

We have grown in entries over the past couple of years in this event and look forward to seeing the green and white represent again this season. Keep an eye on our socials for all the information as it is available. You can see the LAVic calendar HERE.

We are looking forward to the season ahead, it will be great to just get the athletes back on the track enjoying their aths and the friendships they make. We are also very proud to be able to offer an all inclusive option by adding Multiclass to our program, so please spread the word.

There will be more details in the near future and on our socials, so keep an eye out. IN the meantime stay safe everyone, we will see you all soon.
